Hi Anita,
Mitzi had her 12 week check up and received her distemper shot ( in the hip area) without a flinch on Monday. She is now 1 3/4 lbs. At 16 weeks she will get her vaccinations. At first she didn't like the soft sided carry bag I have, to take her to the Vet in but I left it out with her toys, for her to get used to. It worked and she even chose to take a nap in it one afternoon. She is doing great, eating well and playing hard.
On this dark rainy morning, she let me sleep until 8 am-a treat. She is still sleeping in the box on our bed. I've lined the box with felt, so it is cozier and quieter - we no longer hear every scratch of her nails on the box.
She will sit on command but the command "come" only works in the house. Outside there are too many wonderous distractions and running and playing takes precedent. We are totally enjoying her and have discovered a hidden bonus - the "new puppy" diet has allowed me to drop a few pounds. My grandchildren have so much fun with her and she is no longer frightened when everyone comes for Sunday dinner.
Housebreaking is going well, even though we have had so much rain. She is a trooper.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Proud Mama,
Paula
Anita,
Bianca has adjusted beautifully to being part of our family. She is the happiest little girl! She loves to prance and play, but she seems equally happy just chilling out and watching TV on our laps. The boys all adore her and she seems to love them all just the same. They argue over which of them gets to be head puppysitter and which ones have to be assistant puppysitters. (The head puppysitter gets to feed her and is allowed to pick her up because we thought it would be better if they weren't all trying to pick her up at the same time.) Today the boys colored pictures of pumpkins for part of our Halloween decorations. Nathaniel, our little guy with autism, went over to Bianca's crate and taped his picture to the wall just above floor by her door. I asked him what he was doing. He told me he wanted Bianca to have decorations to look at, too.
Btw, the housebreaking has been going very well. She has had almost no accidents. I am a true believer in that schedule! I'll send some pictures of her soon. You are not going to believe how much she's grown, and she has such an expressive little face. She likes having her picture taken--she's got some show dog qualities, I think.
I hope everything is well with you.
Jessica
Hi Anita-
Today was the first day Sasha stayed all day by herself in the bathroom. When I came home I found her in her crate with Kira’s pajama top inside. She was laying with her head on the pants. Kira stripped off this morning and due to our “new routine” with Sasha (Kira has a hard time leaving…has to give her a kiss, then a hug, then a kiss, etc……..we were running a little late) I didn’t remind her to put her clothes in the hamper. Maybe it was a good thing and helped Sasha get through the day. I don’t know. She was very happy to see us though. She has gone non-stop and then at 8:00 she hopped up the two steps, went to the bathroom, crawled in her crate and went to sleep. She is sooo smart. Again, today when we got home we put her on the paper in the kitchen. We also have paper in the bathroom and the living room. Sasha was playing with Kira, stopped, jumped up the two steps to the kitchen, went and pottied, and came back down the stairs and was on the gas again. I think this is the easiest puppy I have had to potty train….I mean really, all I do is change the paper!!!
Anyway….thanks for EVERYTHING!!!!! She is a perfect match (personality and character) for our family. She is a very independent and determined little girl who knows what she wants!!!!

Hi Anita,
David and I just want to let you know how much we appreciate the attention to socialization and training given to the babies by you and your family. Teddy is a total love and we are so blessed to have him in our lives. His adjustment to living in our home is just amazing. What a little bundle of joy!
Thanks to your good work, paper training is going wonderfully. Except for one accident on the first night, Teddy has gone to the paper every single time! We were not expecting that.
Playtimes are a total delight. I come home from work, tired and grumpy and the little guy instantly brings a smile to my face with his antics, some of which are almost acrobatic! I feel like I have a puppy genius on my hands. He loves tug-of-war and is learning to fetch. (Actually brought the ball back a couple of times!) He will also obey the Sit command if he's not too hyper at the moment. I'm guessing one or both of your daughters are responsible for that. As you predicted, Teddy thinks Mikey is great and would like to play with him. Mike is still a bit weirded out--I think maybe by Teddy's size--but will come around in time. He's already gotten to the point where he will voluntarily sit on the couch while I'm cuddling Teddy. On the other end of the couch, mind you, and with his back turned! But Teddy and I sneakily move down until we're close enough for me to pet them both at the same time.
Well, enough for now. As you can tell, I'm having a great week! Hope your's is going well!

Hi Anita, How are you? I bet you are busy with your new puppies! Bubba is doing great! He has the schedule down! We now have him on the "work" schedule and he is doing well with that. He does tend to cry during the play time if we have to leave the room, but I am sure this is normal and will pass....he is probably just excited and doesn't want to be left after he knows we are home. I am attaching a cute picture....it was just a for fun, silly thing, but Bubba really liked it! He just hung out there for a little bit :) He goes to the vet next week, can't wait to see what he weighs. I can see some changes in him now since we picked him up just over two weeks ago! We are enjoying him so much, he is a bundle of fun! :) Take care & I hope all is well with you! ~Ashley Champaign IL
Hi Anita just wanted to say thank you for the kind words too...Your girls are beautiful and you were right, God worked it for a reason with the litter we got..He is an absolute Doll!! He already loves giving us kisses on our noses, and snuggles ...We introduced Mocha & him in two different 10 min intervals, Mocha kept trying to shake hands and Piper mimiced her with one of his paws not as prominant as hers but he was trying..He's doing the sit pretty so well. Well, gotta run soooo exciting!! Write more tomorrow ...He was napping in crate in Sienna's room w/' his chin on baby block stuffed toy- Loves all his toys!! Tousles them around!! Door's supposed to be shut on crate door when he's napping in room w'/ the family right? Just about 3-5 mins self soothed during crate time and we reassured him.then he fell asleep! Love & hugs!!! Thanks so much!! Love Tammy Sienna and family (including Piper!) Piper says he misses you too! Centerville, Ohio *UPDATE: Hi Anita, I've been meaning to write, been so busy in different way... Sienna & I & piper have been in Calif since I graduated my LPN program and finished my 2 day review for nclex class out there in Ohio. We might be going back this summer just not sure yet. Piper is 5.4. Vets in Ohio & here say he's perfect and very healthy. He's adjusted well to their dogs here, labs, and as always very happy to meet new people! Still have to take my state board around end of June coming back there to take it then will have to decide from there where I should start my rn classes. Sienna transferred schools over spring break so no problems . Have been able to spend time w family especially nice w Easter & mothers day w my gma. My gpa has gotten better shortly after we got here, they found an infection in his bloodstream got that taken care of but he has hernia surgery scheduled for early June. How's your hubby doing? Hopefully meds are controlling his health problems. Well better get going, have to get Sienna soon. Take care & hope all your family is well, especially Ashley in her nursing classes. Will try to put new pic of Piper to you 2nite or tomorrow. Hugs...Tammy & family & kisses from Piper!
Hi Anita,
Please forgive me for taking so long to get back to you. As you can imagine, our busy lives have become even busier in the last week!! What a gift from God, Daisy is an amazing puppy who is just so good. And loving, playful and our new baby of course! I was without a functioning computer from last Friday until late Wednesday of this week, so that was my first hurdle in emailing you. And then my only excuse is the new life change in our house!!
We're adjusting quite well, and settling in with Daisy's schedule very well. That is a Godsend! I love it. I can see how it is the very best thing for a new puppy, and for the family to ensure a healthy, happy, well-behaved puppy down the road.
She's doing really well with her potty training. We have still had a few accidents on the kitchen floor, but I would say 9/10 times she does get to the paper. If you have any keys or tips here that we might not be following, we are always open to suggestions.
She barely cried in her box the very first night we had her. She only woke us up once to go to the bathroom, and since she makes it most of the night, and is not crying any longer. She is adjusting so well.
We would like to try the puppy litter training method, at least until the spring when the weather warms up. So, I saw the picture of the dog in Chicago and that looks like a nice fix for us over the winter. And of course down the road on rainy days, etc. If you could send information on how to best introduce this and how it works, that would be great.
Emersyn is just loving her as well. The schedule that Daisy is on works well with a preschooler too, so as to now overwhelm her with a new puppy in her space constantly. For Emersyn, Daisy is a treat to get and sit down and play with her on the kitchen floor during her scheduled play time. When it's over, and Daisy goes back to her crate, Emersyn is fine with that, but after a while she is ready to "have Daisy come back out to play". They are fast friends.
She is just such a joy, and true to the Maltese breed. She reminds us of Holly in so many ways, which is a great healer to our hearts.
Thanks again for understanding the delay in getting back to you, and I look forward to hearing all of your tips and suggestions.
Love & Gods Blessings,
Stacey
Anita, On my last e-mail I forgot that I had attached the picture of Bella with Seth. He is my 11 year old son. Her small size is evident with that picture! I love it. Both of the kids make over her. One thing that is so cool about her is that she is very comfortable with them. It is obvious that your girls were very loving to Bella. I've attached three pics from today. The first one is of me snuggling her in a makeshift carrier. She loved hanging with me for a while. The second one is her playing with her baby pig. She carries it around with her. The third one is her in her crate/cave. She used the box at night, but has been getting used to the crate during the day today. She goes in and out as she pleases, and takes a nap. I like how she has quickly learned that it is her safe place. Anita, she is very smart. I am impressed at how she is doing with the paper training. I am so thankful for the work you did preparing her for us. She is confident and smart. I just love her.

Hello, Anita!
Our little Pixie is doing very well! I do need to tell you that we decided to change her name to Lola. We had the old Lola song by the band The Kinks playing, and she seemed to be the most playful during that, so that's what it became. She seems to be responding very well to it, but she's probably just hearing my voice. :) It seems to fit her playful and sweet personality quite well.
This morning, when I was putting on my makeup and talking to her, I looked down and realized that she was peeing on the newspaper without my guidance or leading her there. We were so proud! She never got so many kisses from us. We love taking her on the carpet and playing with her - she has such a great, playful personality. She has so many toys that she can't concentrate on one - she keeps pulling them all out! She seems very happy, and she really loves feet - you were right about that!
We've been following the routine pretty well, and I think she's responding to it. When I got home from work yesterday and went to get her from the bathroom behind the baby gate, she was sleeping in her crate with the door open. It was a great feeling to know she felt safe and liked her crate! She had pooped on the paper, so we were extra proud. We are making sure Lola gets all her naps, and boy is she a sound sleeper. I spent two hours cooking in the kitchen for company on Sunday, and she slept the entire time. She's so sweet!
We are definitely in love with her already!
Andrea Fishers, IN UPDATE: We're so glad you liked the card. Lola is doing so well! We just can't imagine our life without her. She is the sweetest dog in the world - she's perfect! She brings us so much joy. I've attached a few more pictures, just so you can see how she looks. We did get her picture professionally taken (of course), so one of those is attached.
By the way, we are so thankful that she is so socialized. With family around at Christmas, Lola was perfect. She loves all other dogs (she wears them all out!) and she is perfect around children. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful dog. Thank you for everything!
Mikie has made the transition to us perfectly! He is so loving and sweet. My husband and I are crazy about him. And he is so good. I can't get over how well he has adjusted to us....like he has been with us forever. One mistake I am making, I am letting him sleep with me. I just can't help it....he is so precious and cuddly. I spend every minute I am not at work with him, and the little bit of time I am at work, my husband is with him, so he spends very little time alone. I will try to keep you posted at least weekly, and I will take some pics and email them to you. He gets lots of love and kisses, and has been very attached to us from the beginning. You were so right about his sweet disposition. I know as time goes on, I will have questions about his care, if you don't mind. I think I will always keep him in the house, and have him use papers or pads. It seems the papers gets newsprint on him, and makes his fur a little dingy looking, so I have been using the pads. Is there anything I can do to use the papers without getting the newsprint on him? Everything is going great. Maybe I'm being too overprotective of him, but he seems like our baby. Please keep in touch and I will do the same. When should I get him neutered? Thanks for my little angel! Talk to you soon....Jana Winchester, Ohio
Anita,
Just wanted to let you know how AMAZED I am by Sadie. I put her in a box with towels and her blanket beside my bed last night, fully expecting to end up having her sleep with me because I expected her to cry--not a peep. She slept through the night. Also, she's SO paper-trained already--so she's used newspaper--nothing to clean up--anyway--I can't believe she's so well-trained at eight weeks--a testament to your loving care to this point.
Thanks so much!
Heather Lexington, KY
Anita...Duke is doing soooooo well! I can't really believe it! He is going right on his potty pads....sleeping thru the night and really loving the cats! He loves chasing them and they let him! He is a joy! He is really happy and it shows. Brian and I love him sooo much. I can't wait until he can go to work with me. We have not had him out at all and won't until it warms up and he has had his shots. I just wanted to give u an update. I will send pictures soon! Bye for now!
Courtney
Hi Anita,
All is well with Linda, me and Luca. I hope you and your family are doing the same. As you know Luca just had his first birthday. He is a delight, full of vinegar. Socks are still his favorite plaything. He loves to play fetch. Attached are some pictures of him taken today.
Peace and all good things, Tony Terre Haute, IN
Hey Anita-
I just wanted to give you some updates on Miss Lacey! She is doing FABULOUS! She is so playful and has the best personality and turned out to be even more adorable than what I thought! Here is one of the many PRECIOUS pics I have taken of her! Hope you enjoy!

Anita, Thank you for the e-mail. It was great to hear from you. Cuddles is doing great. We have been in Louisville with one of my daughters and she has 2 Yorkies-needless to say, Cuddles is having a ball. Cuddles weighs about 6 lbs and is paper trained, which is great so I don't have to go out in the weather. He still doesn't like to be brushed so he has a Puppy cut. Yes, he has been neutered. He brings me much joy. Best wishes for the New Year, Dolores Fowler, IN
Here are some cute photos of Tex ! We have switched him over to Adult small bites and we are combining a bit of Adult small bites Lite with it. He seems to have adjusted just fine ! Our vet and our groomer both think that he shouldn't be any lighter weight for his frame and I think he has definitely stopped growing as he has been the same weight for 6 months now.
He is still just a pleasure ...let me know what you think . I can't wait to see the pictures of Lexi....his tiny sister!!
Katherine, Pinehurst, NC
Lexi is doing great. She is such a little sweetie. The last time we had her at the vet which was in August she weighed 4.25 lbs. She gets her shots at the end of this month. But I am sure she is still about the same. How is that little boy that was born in the same litter with Lexi. I have often wondered how much he weighs now. She is getting a little better about the car but still likes to be at home. When we get our coats on she heads for her cage (we call it her little house). She is such a little lap dog she follows my husband and me around all of the time and when we sit down she sits right with us. She is such a wonderful addition to our family. I am so glad that I decided to get her and don't know what I would do without her. I got a new camera for Christmas once I learn how to use it I will send you a picture.
Hope you and your family have a wonderful New Year!
Diane St. Joe, MI
Hi Anita,
Well we had a good vet visit yesterday. Merry weighed in at 2.14 so she added a good bit of weight. The doctor gives the shot where you wanted, and while she and assistant were doing so, Merry was chewing a treat and didn't even fuss! The vet says she has a great personality. Especially for a wee dog. She did get me up this am at 4, but I'm looking at that as a delayed reaction to the shot. She looks fine. And like you, she said for chewing what I do is hold an acceptable chew toy, and when I get chewed I say no, and put the other in her mouth and give the 'good girl' talk.
I'll keep in touch,
Patricia Glenview, IL
To Prospective Adopters:
Our Maltese, Riley, is the best dog ever. He is very healthy, sweet, and happy. Before he came home, I was concerned that he was so small. Anita assured me that he was healthy- just small (he is about 5 lbs as an adult). I was also given the option to wait for another dog instead. I'm so happy I stayed with Riley. He is perfectly healthy and full of energy. Anita and her family are great breeders because not only do they sell the dogs but follow-through with any concerns you have. They like hearing about how Riley is doing and are happy to get reports on his growth, activities, etc. A good breeder should be willing to work with you for the dog's lifespan. We are very happy with Riley and with his breeders!

Hey Anita!
I'll take another picture of Sam and send it to you that doesn't have a picture my mom in her pj's for you to post on your website! I don't think that she would like that too much! She weighs about 5 lbs and her and Scooter battle for the most attention but they are good buddies. They have about 100 toys and they always have to have the exact same toy no matter what! Sam sleeps with my mom and Scooter sleeps with me, but if i am gone for some reason then Scooter has to sleep with my mom too and they fight for the spot right next to her! She ends up with dogs piled on top of her trying to get the closest spot! All in all everyone gets along very well though! She just got that new sweater today preparing for the snow, but we don't have any yet so who knows! Ill send you a new pic soon for your website!

Hi Anita!
Derby is doing wonderful. He is such a delight! He is definitely being spoiled. He is adjusting well and crying less each night. I just love giving him kisses and hugs before he goes to bed. He is getting to where he expects it - it helps sooth him! I think he is adjusting to his new home well. You were so right, he a playful little thing. One thing is for sure, there is nothing on the floor in my bedroom anymore (i.e. tennis shoes and my book bag with straps)! I have made a wonderful scrapbook that I plan to add to as he continues to get older and over the years. He is going to the vet on Mar 30th (my bday so I won't forget). Thanks so much for everything. He is the best purchase I think I have ever made! He is sure joy to come home to. Hope you're feeling much better and your health is back up to par.
Keep in touch! Corey Ann Kentucky
*Update from Corey Ann: This past March, I purchased a Maltese puppy from the Kubiks. Growing up, my parents had never before used the internet to find dog breeders. Now as an adult, I too was hesitant. Let me say, this hesitation soon left and became anticipation. Mrs. Kubik was absolutely wonderful about giving me every bit of information I could ever need about my new puppy and reassured me the little guy would be coming from a respectable, responsible and loving breeder home. Just briefly, the pick-up day went ever so smoothly, I was sent pictures via email of my puppy’s parents that I had requested for scrapbooking, and I was given well-documented vet records as well as other puppy items. Mrs. Kubik urged me not to hesitate to call her on the phone if I had any questions, even the smallest ones, about my puppy once I brought him home. Indeed, I have spoken with Mrs. Kubik at least twice since I received the little guy and she has been most helpful. My puppy is full of energy, very healthy, wants to please me the best he can, has learned commands and his name so quickly and has a heart way bigger than his current weight of about five pounds. Having purchased a Maltese from the Kubiks isn’t the right words – I have received a new best friend!

Anita,
Teddy is doing wonderful!! Everyone who meets him falls in love with him and he knows it!! It is so funny how he thinks everyone wants to see him - knows no enemies and has no fears! At his last shots, about a week or so ago, he weighed 3 lbs 12 oz. Did you get my last email when he got is second shots and how the vet thought he was such a great example of what a Maltese should be?! Teddy is doing great with housebreaking. We take him outside and he goes sometimes, not sure yet how we can get him to tell us when he needs to go! He still doesn't have the run of the house. We are opening it up a little at a time to him.
I will send a picture soon.
Thanks!

Hi Anita,
How are you?I was just thinking about you,and wondering if you had your surgery.Sorry it has been so long since we have written.Between Nina's school concert, our brownie troop and Halloween festivities,we have been going at lightening speed.I hope you are well.
Babyboo had her next round of shots last Friday.I took your advice and asked that they not give the shot that gave her the reaction.(Lepto)She did just great! She did not even whimper(they use the tiniest needle). She is even getting used to her nails getting trimmed. She weighed in at 4.5 lbs.
She had her first walk Sunday, she loved that too(and chasing leaves)!Babyboo has really gotten used to her little harness. We tried out a new winter coat today. She really is so agreeable with everything(except when we leave the house). If she had her way she would go everywhere with us.She already knows 'bye-bye'!She loves to visit Nana's house every Friday for dinner.
Nina is working on pictures of Babyboo. My mother's b-day gift to Nina was a kit to make your own book about your pet. After she writes the story about Babyboo, and compiles all the pictures, we send it away to be bound in a hardcover book(pictures included)! How cute is that!We LOVE LOVE LOVE our Babyboo, she melts our hearts everyday. I will have to have my husband help me send photos, sadly I am computer challenged.I hope this letter finds you and your family well.
Best wishes ,Colleen West Chicago, IL

Anita, I was reading your online sight this morning and the thought occurred to me suddenly that I can back up everything 100% that people have said to you in their referrals of their Maltese puppies that they have received from you over years. In my lifetime, I have purchased dogs from newspaper ads, not knowing they were Puppy mill dogs and all dogs I purchased were in bad health. I was really heartbroken. No GOOD breeder ever advertises in a newspaper!!
I have a Male Maltese named Cotton Levis (Levi) who is 9 weeks old purchased from the Best Breeder there is, Anita. Finding the online web site & connecting online with the Kubik family was a Gift of God.! My Levi, at 9 weeks age is sleeping 8 hours straight through the night and is doing excellent! He also is doing excellent on his paper potty training another blessing of teaching started by the excellent breeder. He is so loveable and cuddly at such a young age and everyone that sees him romp and play wants to steal him and take home with them. Levi is extremely smart and catches on very fast and at 9 weeks is already playing fetch football and bring back to us.
Anita has the best quality in Maltese dogs and backs everything 100% she puts on her web site! Anita is only a phone call away or e mail away and she is your friend for life, any question you have she answers. Her Welovemaltese slogan is exactly felt by her and family 100%.

*Update from Barb:
On December 28, 2008 I will have loved, enjoyed, and cuddled the best dog anyone could ever own, bought from the best Maltese Breeder! Everything I said when Levi was 9 weeks, is still TRUE today. The Kubiks have wonderful Maltese dogs and are also very honest trustworthy people.
Levi, is so comical and so very smart. He knows when it's his bedtime for the night and thinks, if I run and hide I won't have to go to bed. He knows that we watch Wheel a Fortune every night and Jeopardy and he's learned he can watch TV with us, he knows when Jeopardy is over, it's bed time.
A few weeks ago I fixed toast and made mistake of giving him a tiny part of the crust. Now every morning he hears the toaster handle go down and runs and jumps up on his hind legs, waiting for his crumb of toast also, breakfast together.
He loves to be with us and when we get up and leave couch, he runs to spot we sat and lays down reserving our seat, hoping to see us return quickly.
From the first day I got him, I held my hands out for him to come and I picked his tiny body up and I said "let's be friends", and oh the kissy's I got. My logo "LET'S BE FRIENDS" is used every morning, and will be forever, and I get face wash of kissy's.!
The Christmas Tree was put up before Thanksgiving and only once has he gone near it. A stern "No Levi" and he's never went near it again. What an Angel! We love him so much!
Love Barb
HI Anita:
Mulligan is an angel… and is doing so well, and growing soooo fast…he is going on his papers 95%, sometimes he misses when he poops, because he wanders around too much HEHEHE. He is a really good puppy, and a sweet little soul..We love him very much….I sending new picks, taken today. Thanks, Gwen…. Elwood IN
Just wanted to drop you a line now that Avery is 1 1/2 to let you know how she is doing. She is great, the most loveable dog you can imagine. She loves to give kisses and be loved and still loves to play. She is excellent at catch as she catches very well. She has topped out at about 5 lbs. now and has a lovely coat. We keep her a little on the long side during the winter months and shorter in the summers. Tom and I are completely in love with her and thank you very much for allowing us to have her into our home. She is doing well with our other puppy also, although she is definitely the boss. I have attached some recent photos of her so you can see how lovely she is. Thanks again Anita!

Hi Anita,
Words cannot express how much we already love Sassy!!! She is amazing! I cannot get over how smart she is. When we first got her home I showed her where her paper to go potty was and she has only went on the kitchen floor maybe 3 times since then. The first day we had her home she went on her paper all day. Nights have been easy, also. Yesterday she barked for the first time. She likes to roll around in her bed and play with her little toy monkey. When she's doing that she usually lets out a little bark or two. Oh and she LOVES to give kisses. I get down with her and shake my head and say, "I want Sassy Kisses" and she goes crazy giving me kisses!!! It's the sweetest thing. I've never experienced a puppy so content and passive as she is. I've never had a maltese so I'm not sure if it's just the breed...but I'm sure that all the love and attention she received at your house contributed to it!! It's like she's been here forever! Unbelieveable. I could go on and on but I hear her in there she's not a happy camper because I'm not in there with her. Better go check .....
